Dr. Karina Martínez Mayorga

Dr. Martínez-Mayorga obtained her BSc. in Food Chemistry in 1998, followed by her PhD. in Chemical sciences, both in the National Autonomous University of Mexico. In 2005, went to the University of Arizona as a postdoctoral fellow to study protein and lipids from membranes. Then, in 2007 she joined the Torrey Pines Institute in Florida, as an Associate member. She returned to Mexico in 2012, joining UNAM’s Institute of Chemistry as a Principal researcher.

As of today, Dr. Karina has authored more than 80 papers, accounting for more than 3000 citations. She has reviewed project proposals for CONAHCyT (Mexico), Austrian Science Fund, Medical Research Council (UK), Czech Science Foundation, and National Agency for the Promotion of Science and Technology (Argentina). Currently, she is an editorial board member of Springer Nature Applied Sciences, & F1000-CIS; in addition she serves as associate editor for Journal of Cheminformatics.

She is part of the National Researchers System (SNI), currently with a level III designation. Her expertise field is Computational Chemistry & Biology. Her Research interests include the search for novel bioactive compounds in public repositories, Quantitative Structure Property Relationships and description of molecular recognition and perception mechanisms at molecular level.

Dr. Abraham Madariaga Manzón

Dr. Madariaga-Mazón is alumnus from the School of Chemistry, UNAM. Where he also conducted his graduate studies, focusing in natural products isolation and characterization. Since 2016, Dr. Abraham belongs to the National Researchers System, level I.

His research interests include: medicinal chemistry, natural products and studies of protein-ligand interactions. All of these, aided with computational methodologies; such as, molecular docking and dynamics, cheminformatics and QSAR.

Dr. Norberto Sánchez Cruz

Dr. Sánchez-Cruz holds a BSc. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry & Biology, he is alumnus of the School of Superior Studies «Zaragoza»; UNAM. He continued his graduate studies with Drs. Ramón Garduño Juárez (MSc,) and José L. Medina-Franco (PhD.).

During his doctorate studies, he made research visits to Spain: First, to the University of Barcelona; under the supervision of Dr. Xavier Barril. Closely followed by a visit to Instituto Hospital del Mar de Investigaciones Médicas, under supervision of Dr. Jordi Mestres.
